If you are new to our gym, Northern Touch CrossFit was born out of a deep passion for living our best life & sharing the most foundational aspect to who we are as people. And that is physical fitness.

CrossFit has been around for over a decade now. It started with the creator; Greg Glassman who saw how he could combine the best elements of fitness and put them into combinations that made getting fit fun again & caused amazing gains in strength, endurance and agility. CrossFit has shaped our lives, and the bodies and minds around us & we are truly grateful for finding this method of training.

Participating daily as a CrossFit athlete is what makes us better siblings, friends, partners and business owners. It is our version of Living Our Best Life.

Northern Touch CrossFit – Our Story

I (Erin) am no stranger to struggle. There was a time in my twenties when I could barely even walk outside without experiencing severe cyclical panic attacks; and the ONLY thing that would bring me out of my house (literally) was being active, and my absolute passion for fitness and all the benefits it offers.

My mental health struggles left me at many times secluded. However the one thing that always brought me out of the house (and which was a catalyst for me becoming a coach); was using fitness to empower and challenge me. And in 2010 I was lucky enough to come across my very first CrossFit bootcamp.

The workouts at this bootcamp were nothing I had tried before (as I was admittedly an endurance junky), and attending them had sparked a new desire to learn more about strength training & continue to workout with these amazing new athletes I had found in “this thing called CrossFit”.

On and off for years I would train at local CrossFits, until one day I left my fitness instructing career to dive 100% into this amazing sport. And since then I have never looked back.

Darryl came upon CrossFit by way of struggle also.

In 2008 Darryl was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and had to completely rebuild his confidence and fitness. He had fractured his femur (medlal condyle to be exact. the part that makes up part of the knee joint #yikes!) and was wheelchair/crutch assisted for at least 6 months. It was a trying time on many levels.

He had to put his training (Muay Thai and conventional weight training) to the side and begin the long journey of rehab. Wanting to get back on his feet at or near 100% (really 110% ha); he sought ways to help rebuild his strength. Enter CrossFit.

In 2010 knowing he would LOVE the intensity and community of CrossFit; I shared “this thing called CrossFit” with him, and well – the fire had been lit from then on. Not only did this serve as way to help build the muscles that supported his knee, it also served as a mental pick me up.


CrossFit to us is way more than just a series of exercises that get you sweaty and sore after. To us it is a reflection of how we choose to live our lives!

We aim to develop strength/resiliency through challenge so that we can lead our best lives possible.

That’s why in 2015 after several years of talking about, building our dream life; we decided to START to build it.

Did opening a gym have risks? (Yup, still does).

But we could no longer ignore the feelings that “good enough” was in fact NOT good enough for us, and that we had to just go for it!

On Family Day 2016 we officially opened the doors to Northern Touch CrossFit. And ever since then our goal has remained the same.

We want our members to utilize fitness within our space to make them stronger athletes AND more courageous people so that they change their body, health and lives.

We only have one trip around this earth and you can 100% bet that we won’t be going down without a dream realized and a PR achieved.
