They can work
It really depends how you handle them
Most of the time people say what their resolutions are
Some write them down
Some input them into an app
Few rarely actually map out how they plan on achieving this new resolution
In January, there is something called “Quitter’s Day” which usually falls around the second Friday of the month.
This is when the majority of people give up on their New Years Resolutions. Reason’s can range from they got busy, it was no longer important to them, it was too hard, they changed their mind etc.
The resolution was created for a reason.
More than likely to improve some aspect of life and more than likely it actually was important.
It was just how the resolution was applied.
Creating a resolution is the first step
Writing it down is the next
Mapping out how you will achieve and sticking to it regardless of feelings or circumstance is where people most fall off
Here are four steps to help keep your resolutions
Write it down
Break it into small achievable steps (reverse engineering)
Find an accountability partner
Commit to it daily
The commitment part does not need to be drastic or earth shattering.
It needs to be manageable and repeatable. Be real with yourself on what you can actually commit to daily.
Remind yourself it’s ok not to be perfect
It’s ok to miss a day or two, it doesn’t mean you failed
Get back to it.
At the end of the year you’ll look back and see the progress you made
No action = no progress
