Focus on the process rather than the result
Taking the emotion (how we feel) will allow us to have the freedom to complete tasks.
Rather than thinking “I don’t feel like doing <insert task>” a better way to think is “I will complete <insert task>” or “what is the first step to complete <insert task>”.
Then get to work.
Or more simply, just get to work on it.
If we start negotiating with ourselves we will always win. More often than not, the negotiation sides with not doing the task or taking an easier route.
Putting together a task list is a great step to help organize your priorities for a given day.
Taking out the emotion will allow you to complete the tasks
This sort of discipline will bring freedom to your day as you will know what to do , complete it and know that you have accomplished what you have set out to do.
A great dopamine rush.
Rinse and repeat
It gets easier over time.
Decision fatigue is real, and we only have a limited amount of energy so we need to use it wisely.
Focusing on the important things is a great way to use this energy.
You can apply this to
- Projects
- Day to day tasks
- Work
- Fitness
- Nutrition
- You name it
It starts with your task list
Then moves on to focusing on putting a check mark beside the task
Give it a try
It will take some effort to start (like all new things) but over time it becomes easier
The effort pays off.
